Sis, You're Pregnant!!!
First off, congratulations. Whether this moment was planned or not, you are growing a whole human (or humans) inside of you. Right now, your little one—or little ones—are developing at a rapid rate. It is normal to experience fear, denial, joy, etc., at this moment. But it's imperative not to dwell on the negative feelings.
It may seem like it's not the right time, not the right person, and/or you may be wondering if you are good enough to be a mom. What I have learned over the years is that everything is always temporary. What we worry about now, nine times out of ten, we will not worry about in the future.
Take this time to reflect on all the obstacles or situations you have overcome up to this moment... Just know: this too shall pass.
If this moment was planned and you're wondering what you should do to prepare for this pregnancy, here are a few things to consider.
For starters, it will be beneficial to start taking prenatal vitamins. If you drink and/or smoke, now would be a good time to stop. It may also be helpful to find a birth support person—someone you may know as a doula. We’ll talk about the role of a doula in another blog at a later time... stay tuned.
You may also want to schedule your first doctor’s visit or find a midwife, depending on the route you plan to take.
You were chosen by your child to be a mother. You are worthy of the assignment. What an honor!
Until next time... Wombmen Are The Future
